This work is a reflection of time and space, reality and fantasy, instant and eternity, which appear to be opposites but are at the same time interdependent symbiotic phenomena. The form interprets the contrast between large and small with the round holes formed by the solid body. Abstract shapes, light, and shadow are refracted and intertwined with the environment, and the work leads the viewer into the illusion of personal subconsciousness when viewed at close range.

This work is made of forged stainless steel. The inside of the sculpture uses a grid-shaped stainless steel skeleton as the structure, and the surface is made of stainless steel thin plate split forging, knocking, and welding to make the sculpture lightweight. The supporting point of the sculpture presents the lightness of the sculpture with two curved surfaces, and the ingenious balance of structural mechanics is also presented in this work.
The most challenging part of this sculpture is presenting the lightness of the sculpture with a double curved surface for the support points. In the process of experimenting with the balance of the sculpture, six models were made to test the circular hole that would affect the center of gravity of the sculpture. The size and the most suitable position were determined based on rational principles to achieve an exquisite balance of structural mechanics.
The project took one year from concept model to finished work. This project was exhibited at the Taipei World Trade Center Art Fair in April 2016.
This sculpture intends to symbolise the relationship of duality and interdependence by combining the large fish whale and fish eggs in the sea. The shape is made of round holes surrounded by solid bodies, respectively expressing large and small.
The wind load influences the shape of the sculpture and the surface optimisation method. Aerodynamic shape optimisation has helped to achieve the optimum design for a sculpture while reducing the wind load.
The concept of this work is inspired by the fable at the beginning of the first chapter of Zhuangzi's philosophy, "A Happy Excursion". This work seeks to explore the essence of all symbiotic phenomena that appear to be in opposition to each other and are interdependent. The abstract sculpture, light, and shadow refract and intertwine with the environment, not only projecting a seemingly real space but also creating an illusion of the personal subconscious.
