This premium soy sauce packaging, tailored specifically for Hunan-style stir-fry cooking, inherits the traditional small-vat brewing techniques dating back to 1740. Crafted through extended sun-drying, it delivers the rich, savory aroma of classic fermented soybeans. Design-wise, we distilled core visual symbols from Hunan cuisine culture and brewing traditions, while optimizing the bottle structure to achieve strong shelf impact and contextual relevance. The result is a design that conveys the weight of historical craftsmanship while meeting the demands of daily convenience and aesthetic appeal.

The bottle is crafted from premium clear glass, distinguished by its transparent texture and pure hue. Paired with a paper label, the design creates a deliberate material contrast that accentuates the crystalline quality of the glass while allowing the label to convey brand and cultural narratives. This approach achieves a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal.
The core challenge of this project was to balance the gravitas of a century-old craft with the appeal required in modern retail environments. It was essential to ensure that traditional elements felt relevant rather than outdated, while also differentiating the product in a saturated market. Externally, the design needed to counter market homogeneity; internally, it had to bridge the gap between visually expressing artisanal heritage and ensuring the bottle's form was feasible for mass production. Through iterative refinement of cultural motifs and structural optimization aligned with manufacturing capabilities, the design achieved a cohesive integration of historical essence and contemporary aesthetics. The resulting packaging conveys a sense of timeless craftsmanship while commanding strong shelf presence.

The packaging form is designed with ergonomics in mind, offering a secure grip and controlled pouring, making it well-suited for the fast-paced nature of Hunan-style stir-frying. It allows for precise dispensing even during busy cooking sessions. This design stems from a deep understanding of practical home kitchen needs, balancing high-frequency usability with clear visual and structural cues that communicate its "specialized sauce for specialized dishes" positioning. Ultimately, it reinforces the strong scenario association of "cook Hunan dishes with Hunan seasoning," enabling the product to quickly convey its functional attributes on the shelf, thereby enhancing consumer recognition and purchase intent.
This research focuses on innovative product packaging design, aiming to develop professional soy sauce packaging tailored for Hunan-style stir-fry scenarios. The research process includes analyzing market gaps, extracting brand cultural elements, and utilizing design tools for visual expression, ultimately forming a comprehensive packaging solution with high shelf recognition and competitiveness. Key insights indicate that modern consumers increasingly tend to choose seasoning products strongly associated with cooking contexts. Packaging design can not only carry the cultural memory of traditional brewing techniques but also serve as an effective differentiator in market competition, acting as a visual vehicle and communication medium that integrates Hunan cuisine culture into everyday dining experiences.
This product originated from the 284-year brewing heritage of Longpai Flavor Industry and the contemporary need to preserve Hunan cuisine culture. Recognizing the market gap for a specialized soy sauce tailored to Hunan-style stir-frying, we drew inspiration from the brand's traditional small-vat fermentation and extended sun-drying techniques. Addressing the challenge of standing out in competitive retail environments, we centered the design around the core concept of "capturing the wok's aroma in Hunan flavor." This guided the entire design strategy to create a soy sauce that not only carries historical depth but also ignites the essence of home cooking and resonates directly with consumer scenarios.
