Public Art Space for Verge Creative Design
Dachuan lane of Chengdu, West Bank of Jinjiang River, is a historical street linking the ruins of Chengdu East Gate City wall. In the project, the archway of Dachuan Lane in the history was rebuilt by the old way in the original street, and the story of this street was told by the street art installation. The intervention of art installation is a kind of media for the continuation and transmission of stories. It not only reproduces the traces of historical streets and lanes that have been demolished, but also provides a kind of temperature of urban memory for the new streets and lanes.

Chengdu dachuan lane, the west bank of jinjiang river, the junction of dazu river and nanhe river, a historical street connecting jinjiang qingling wharf and the ruins of chengdu east gate city wall, with a total length of more than 140 meters. Before the reconstruction, dachuan lane is a noisy and busy "express street". Due to its special history and geographical location, in the new round of urban renewal, dachuan lane is endowed with a new location and function.
Urban Renewal, Art District, Interactive Installation, Ttraditional Reproduction
8, 250, 4000 (unit mm), this group of Numbers reproduce an old street-like structural space, in the visible and invisible space, to build a space out of sight, blurred boundaries of perception. The whole device is 8mm diameter stainless steel copper plated solid tube factory modulus dislocation welding, and then to the site assembly and deep processing. The ground is paved with black bricks and stone slabs of traditional local streets.
The installation space itself is the image space of the street entrance, which not only ensures the basic traffic function, but also serves as the carrier to communicate the memory of the street and the life of the street. How to let the public experience an interesting and dramatic space interwoven with memory, life and culture is the goal and problem of this design.
The project, located in jinjiang district, chengdu city, sichuan province, was completed in June 2019.
At the same time of demolishing the original street gateways, the historical gate buildings of dachuan lane were rebuilt by repairing the old ones, and the stainless steel devices were used as the space structure, and the interactive devices of streets and lanes were used to tell the story of the street. The interactivity of the space enables the passers-by to stop and feel the people who used to live here and the stories that happened here, so as to improve the memory of the streets.
The installation itself is a medium for the continuation and transmission of the story. It is an installation building that inherits and creates traditions without relying on the visual integration with the surrounding environment. It not only reproduces the traces of the historical streets that have been demolished, but also provides a kind of urban cultural temperature for the new street space.
Inheriting the history, carrying forward the memory, reviving the streets, this is the new meaning of the new street entrance device. Through the construction of a new link relationship, the historical prototype and contemporary culture have a new collision, to show the close relationship between human history, modern commerce and residents' life. From the component space arranged in order in depth, a considerable, swimmable and stop-able street installation space is created.
