In this work series, glass was produced with the technique of kiln casting. First, a wax model was made and then the mold was taken and glass was poured. For the letter view, a paper form was given to the glass with the hot glass shaping technique, and writings were written on it by carving method. By performing the final finishing process, all glass parts are cold worked and made ready for joining with metal parts. With the help of a special adhesive used in glass and metal joining, the sculpture reaches its final shape.
If glass material is preferred for a sculpture as an artistic expression method, it is necessary to know and apply it very well. Although it is well known as a material, glass is full of surprises. The most challenging part for "Commemorative Hands" was actually keeping all the parts firmly held together in a gentle form that would give the desired movement rather than the construction phase of the glass parts of the sculpture. In addition to the physical difficulty, I have been able to tell the thought story in a humorous way without telling the audience directly.
"Commemorative" is exhibited in different galleries. With different variations, the project continues to be specially produced by the artist.
Apart from being exhibited in galleries as a sculpture, "Commemorative Hands" can be invited to meet on a common ground with different disciplines in the field of art and design, with both its narrative and formal features, and projects that make a difference. Many sectors such as cinema, theater and textile need the 3D creative thinking skills and experiences of plastic artists and designers, and different disciplines such as glass in the art sector need them to reach a certain audience.
Academic knowledge and technical application practices from the past until 2016 were used in the construction of this sculpture.
The Commemorative Hands series is inspired by life experiences and life itself. In all the works in the series, a real story is depicted and transformed into glass sculptures by adding a surreal interpretation.
