Educational Calendar for COSMO-SLOTH
This product is an interactive calendar developed to protect forests. The target is people of all ages who are interested in the environment, and it consists of one calendar, a leaf-shaped seal, and a green ink pad. Users will have the opportunity to put a leaf-shaped stamp on the calendar once a day for every time they save on wood disposables. As the user actively participates in saving, the tree in the calendar grows richer and turns green. After one year, the tree in the calendar symbolically shows the fruits of conscience and thrift harvested by the participants during the year.

Unique Properties
This product is a play-type calendar developed to encourage the saving of wooden disposables. Users will have the opportunity to put a leaf-shaped stamp on the calendar once a day for every time they save on wood disposables. As the user actively participates in saving, the tree in the calendar grows richer. In the process, participants realize how much time and effort it takes to grow a tree. This realization raises concerns about the use of disposable wood products and leads to savings.

Production Technology
Sometimes leaving the other person's role blank is effective for communication. This is because the blanks create interest and curiosity and give the other person an opportunity to fill in the blanks. With this in mind, we designed a calendar with a bare tree to be filled with a green seal. We induced the interaction between the product and the user through the medium of the seal, and wanted to keep the positive momentum of the participants through this fun element.
Design Challenge
We are also considering developing an app to reduce the burden of production costs and increase free distribution.
Project Duration
This project started from December 2020 and finished in March 2021. This project was conducted in Seoul, the capital of South Korea.
Operation Flow
The act of stamping is like eating popcorn. Just like you can't stop when you touch popcorn, once you stamp it, you want to keep stamping it. This is because when the tree turns green, the participants feel happy and become more motivated. The stamp can only be taken once per day, and the requirements are as follows: 1. Do not use paper cups, wooden chopsticks, and paper sleeves. 2. After washing your hands, use less than 1 piece of paper towel. 3. Use reusable paper instead of new paper.
Research
This product is being distributed free of charge to various educational institutions. This is because we planned this project not to pursue profit, but to inform the public of the healthy values that mankind should share. The fruits of efforts to change perceptions will be as slow but clear as a tree on a calendar. And over time, people will come to realize that the dense forest that protects against natural disasters and extreme weather was for a healthy future for mankind and the earth.
Inspiration
Since the pandemic, the use of wooden disposable products has increased dramatically. The reckless use of wooden disposables can encourage logging and increase the amount of carbon dioxide produced during incineration. It can also cause natural disasters and extreme weather events. Recognizing this fact, we came to sympathize with the necessity of forest protection and initiated a small environmental campaign to induce many people to participate.
Project Overview
Green Challenge 365 Educational Calendar has been a Silver winner in the Social Design award category in the year 2021 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill. Silver A' Design Award recipients are recognized for their contribution to raising industry standards and advancing the practice of design. Their work often incorporates original innovations and elicits a strong emotional response, making a notable impact on the improvement of everyday life.
