robot, product design, scara, organic shape, simple
Since we thought that the influence of inertia could be suppressed by reducing the weight of the tip, we adopted an arm that was powerfully extended from a stable base and became more delicate toward the tip. As a result, stable high-speed operation and design innovation were realized. In addition, the entire product was constructed with an organic design that resembles the human body so that high-speed operation does not give a sense of intimidation or anxiety to workers working on the production line.
The aim was to create the fastest SCARA robot. Initially, however, the expectations of the designer were only to renovate the appearance of the predecessor. I felt that the previous model's structure did not embody the fastest spec, so I proposed an ideal form of the SCARA robot including a renovation of the whole structure first.
This project is started from 2014. The robot is already on sale and still produced.
This product is settled in a factory, and programed their jobs and works for whole day.
We researched most of SCARA robots in the world through internet and world wide robot exhibitions. Then we realized that we have to change every legacy structure to make robot faster.
Conceived from the structure of the human body, "tension" and "contraction" provide its external form. The lifelike soft exterior removes the sense of intimidation during high-speed movement.
