Production Technology

Cola adopts imported high-strength ABS integrated compound molding process for its whole body, featuring high and low-temperature resistance, good strength and toughness, and wide adaptability in usage scenarios. The detachable mechanical structure design can reduce the number of connectors and parts, making the product easy to assemble and reducing the production cost.

Design Challenge

Abandoning the humanoid shape, a cuter waiter concept is designed. The common black-and-white uniform color matching and simple integrated design, with waisted modeling on both sides, present a more beautiful and scientific overall structure. The product is designed with a 35 degrees interactive screen that is in line with ergonomic design, and its infrared plate detection and touch sensing functions also reduce the difficulty of operation.

Project Duration

Duration and location of the project: the project was launched in April 2020 in Changzhou, China, ended in September 2020, and will be exhibited at the 4th China Catering Procurement Exhibition in October 2020.

Operation Flow

In the food delivery mode, the four-layer tray structure allows delivery to four tables at a time, enabling multi-point delivery and multi-tasks in parallel. In the greeting mode, Cola can automatically sense guests 2m away and play the set welcome content by voice and screen. Its voice triggering and interactive function supports multiple rounds of Q&As. In the cruise mode, it can automatically patrol at a fixed route and intermittently play the set voice content.

Research

The biggest social benefit lies in its effective solution to the pain point of employment difficulty in today's social service industry. Compared with the service staff of traditional restaurants, KTVs and hotels, Cola intelligent delivery robot has the advantages of lower monthly rent and maintenance costs, longer working hours, lower error rate and higher work efficiency.

Inspiration

Cola intelligent delivery robot is in a shape inspired by the Rook, which retains the elements of smooth cylindrical shape and tray and is equipped with a series of sensors, enabling avoidance of obstacles at any angle, contactless delivery and intelligent voice interaction, etc.

Project Overview

Cola Food Delivery Robot has been a Silver winner in the Robotics, Automaton and Automation Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill. Silver A' Design Award recipients are recognized for their contribution to raising industry standards and advancing the practice of design.
