Over time, waiters can be very uncomfortable. The Rotating table dining robot can provide users with a faster, more efficient, and elegant dining experience. It can be served as soon as it is delivered, and delicious without waiting.
Meal delivery robot, service robot, intelligent robot
The working principle of the entire rotating table dining robot is based on the design of a rotatable dinner plate. It has two different working states to meet different functional scenario requirements. The main color of the complete machine is silver, with a highly technical texture. The whole machine is designed with flexible atmosphere lights in many places, making the entire dining environment more elegant. The organic texture on the dining plate makes the entire machine look more exquisite.
It is very difficult for Rotating table dining robot to achieve synchronous flipping of the meal plate without causing the food to tilt. Finally, two sets of pulleys were used to control the upper and lower plates, and the middle plate was always kept stable,. One group controls the rotation angle of the upper and lower plates to be consistent, while the other group controls the uniform rotation of the entire plate surface.
The project started in Shanghai in June 2021 and was completed in March 2023. Currently, it has not been officially exhibited.
The Rotating table dining robot mainly controls products through a touch screen, including delivery, flipping, playing music, recording, and information. In the transportation state, the screen will display cute smiling faces. The dining robot is mainly divided into two working states, one is during the transportation process, and the other is when it arrives at the destination and is in a flipped state.
Conduct on-site interviews and video recordings of restaurants currently using service robots, analyze the problems users encounter in using service robots, and find a starting point for this design. When using a dining robot, waiters need to frequently bend over to pick up plates on different layers, which requires some time. Guests also need to wait for a certain amount of time to serve when the dining robot arrives. Therefore, I hope to design a dining robot that can facilitate waiters to quickly pick up meals while reducing customer waiting.
Most dining robots have fixed plates, which makes it difficult to pick up food and requires the waiter to bend over, which is very inelegant. Therefore, I want to design a dining robot that can make picking up food more convenient and elegant. There are many classic folding structures in traditional furniture tables and chairs, and the Rotating table is a design of dining robot based on some of them.
Rotating Table Service Robot has been a Silver winner in the Robotics, Automaton and Automation Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
