Creating Nico involved meticulous, user-centric design. Literature reviews on smoking cessation, AI-chatbots, and behavioral psychology guided initial concepts. Wireframes and prototypes were iteratively developed using Figma. The AI component utilized NLP and machine learning algorithms for a responsive chatbot. User testing and feedback refined the interface and chatbot's conversational capabilities. Nico represents a seamless blend of data-driven insights, human-centered design, and cutting-edge technology.
The creative challenge was to blend AI tech and behavioral strategies into an engaging, easy-to-use UX. Internal factors included understanding user psychology to tailor the nicotine reduction process and utilizing historical data on effective quit methods. From a social perspective, it was critical to craft an experience that would resonate and encourage community support, fostering user commitment.
The project started in May 2023 in Copenhagen and finished in June 2023.

Conversational interaction, responsive support. Key frames: goal-setting, progress tracking, personalized advice. Combines AI and evidence-based strategies for an engaging, personalized experience. AI adaptability delivers sustainable results, understanding each user's unique journey.
I conducte user-centered research for Nico, an AI-powered nicotine cessation app. Literature review on cessation strategies, AI efficacy, and behavioral psychology guided our framework. Interviews, and user testing with prototypes provided valuable insights. Users desired personalized, non-judgmental support. They appreciated Nico's tracking, insights, and adaptive conversation. Findings shaped Nico's empathetic, intelligent, goal-oriented design. This research impacted Nico's user-friendly interface, motivating and guiding users. It contributes to healthier societies and advances health app design.
My inspiration for this project arose from the promise of AI in driving behavioral change and the apparent market gap for AI-based smoking cessation aids. Guided by robust research evidence demonstrating AI's effectiveness in quitting support, I designed Nico. Each feature, from personalized quit plans to craving prediction, is firmly rooted in these scientific insights. Nico reflects my belief in leveraging technology to foster meaningful change and address societal challenges like nicotine addiction.
