AR technology can help to identify plants more accurate and add virtual animal to describe the plants . Through AR technology, I can see the changes of plants in the four seasons, which increases the interaction. Meanwhile, GPS technology can help locate Adoptable plants nearby.
Based on the field investigation and analysis by using User Journey and cart sorting, it can be concluded that people's pain point is that they want more interaction, socializing and happiness. So design is from these ideas.
The concept was started in April 2018 in Loughborough, U.K, and constantly upgrade until now.
The operation process is very User-friendly, as long as users register an account, they can go to the neighborhood to identify plants and adopt their own digital plants in the mobile phone. At the same time, they can fill in their friends' accounts to invite them to participate in activities. Users can visit their friends' garden to ask to exchange plants. In the end, they used the points earned for these actions to get discounts on real plant purchases.
Behavioral maps are used to document readily observable characteristics, movements, and activities, time spent at fixed locations or in a transit, and the details of environmental context. Through this method, we could observe the interaction between the participants and the plants nearby, such as actions and behaviors. In addition, through the records of different people's surveys, we can find out what attracts participants nearby.
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List, as of 2021, approximately 39,500 plant species worldwide are classified as endangered or threatened. The loss and imminent extinction of plant species is a global issue often caused by multiple factors, including human activities, habitat destruction, climate change and illegal collection. Therefore, safeguarding plants starts with raising awareness in our daily life is important. At the same time, many people want to learn about the plants around them but don't have a good way.
