In the prototyping work, the clip mounted on the back of the bottle is vulnerable to fracture. To fix this vulnerability, the walling thickness of the mouth part is slightly adjusted to improve its strength and durability.Up to 5 g of salt can be dispensed and this maximum amount takes up a small volume, so the designer has to make a trade-off between the graduated size of the bottle cap and the overall volume, to the extent that the comfort of interaction is uncompromised.
The program kicked off in New York in September 2023 and wrapped up in New York in December 2023
How to use: pick up a shaker, push the mouth part until the pointer stays at the desired gram (the catch stops automatically), tilt the bottle and pour out the salt to a small container, slightly rotate the bottle to both sides until the salt completely pours out, push back the top
The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends that an adult should consume no more than 2.3 g (about half a teaspoon) of salt a day, and suggests that specific groups including those with high blood pressure, the aged, and children should try to reduce salt intake to a level below 1.5 g. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recommends the salt intake of 5 g a day. In addition, the "Umbrella Girl" appearing in the salt shaker package is Morton Salt’s classic logo.
Those who start cooking are unlikely to know the exact amount of salt to dispense. Even though recipes or guides give the recommended amount of salt, the packages of ordinary salt shakers have no accurate graduation resulting in over or under-filling. It's essential to develop a package with accurate dispensing. According to the WHO recommendation, 1-2 g salt added per 100 g food is reasonable, and an adult should not consume over 5 g salt a day. That’s why the designer fixes 1-5 g .
