Design Challenge
How can we design a dedicated, user-friendly platform that facilitates seamless connections between emerging artists and casual collectors? Key research questions: - What are the biggest barriers preventing emerging artists from selling their work? - What motivates casual collectors to purchase art, and what challenges do they face? - How do existing platforms fall short in serving these groups? - What features would make an art marketplace more accessible and engaging for both artists and collectors? This research aims to uncover insights that can shape a solution tailored to the needs of emerging artists and casual collectors, fostering a more inclusive and vibrant art market.
Project Duration
The project started in June 2023 and finished in January 2024 in New York City.
Operation Flow
An immersive virtual gallery: Makes discovering art as effortless as scrolling through social media. Enjoy a curated daily showcase tailored to your browsing habits and preferences. A matchmaking hub for collectors and artists: Featuring “dating app”-style artist profiles, it helps artists share their unique stories while allowing collectors to discover the inspiration behind each artwork. Seamless communication made easy: An AI-powered chat assistant that connects collectors and artists effortlessly.
Research
Utilized digital survey services to analyze data on the challenges and needs of emerging artists and art collectors. Findings highlighted key challenges, including connecting with collectors, understanding pricing strategies, and effectively communicating their art to a broader audience.
Inspiration
Aspiring artists struggle to find buyers, while art lovers want to support them but face challenges in connecting. Most platforms cater to established artists and collectors, leaving emerging artists to navigate the crowded space of social media like Instagram. But does it have to be this complicated? How can we create a dedicated space for emerging artists and casual collectors to connect effortlessly?
