This series of hand painting products select the auspicious beasts of China as the main elements, namely carp, crane, lion and kylin. Every graphic adopts the refreshing integration of traditional culture and modern elements, and is adorned by vigorous brush strokes and characters, and rich colors. The combination of vibrant colors and calligraphy implies carrying forward traditional Chinese culture against the backdrop of the new era.
This series focuses on the China-chic style and uses modern hand painting to realize the animal images that represent luck and auspiciousness. The rich colors coming from the dye colors of traditional Chinese painting echo the images of every auspicious beast. Adorned with vigorous calligraphy, this product showcases the intrinsic spirits of traditional Chinese culture.
The most challenging problem is how to strike a balance among every single beautiful character, harmonious and unified style, and comprehensible connotations. This product, by using modern techniques to express the traditional Chinese elements, conveys the idea that traditional culture can be sublimated when merged with the new era, and breaks the stereotype of conformist Chinese traditional culture.
In order to highlight China's lofty and solemn spirit, these patterns are paired with brush strokes written in black ink that are vigorous and delicate, and seemingly chaotic but actually neat. The patterns in line with the connotations of these auspicious beasts are in sharp contrast with the vibrant colors on their bodies.
The study shows that the traditional hand paintings on the market blindly utilize the culture and popular elements from other countries, but neglect the prominent traditional Chinese culture. What’s worse, the majority of them merely focus on flamboyant patterns with no in-depth connotations. This series, however, is designed as a groundbreaking product that put other commonplace counterparts in the shade, aiming to redraw people’s attention to the traditional Chinese culture.
The graphics of this series come from auspicious beasts that have been passed down from ancient times to the present in China, such as carp, crane, lion and kylin, representing fortune, longevity, safety and auspiciousness respectively. By virtue of this, the brand hopes to send positive and wonderful wishes to users and encourage them to stay optimistic in the Covid-19 Pandemic.
