The visual identity of Villa Albella embodies a harmonious fusion of timeless rural elegance and natural allure. Many materials were used in the creation of the product and package.
The creative challenge was in seamlessly blending the rich heritage of Tuscany with the new vision of a memorable place of art, culinary exploration, and intercultural dialogue. It required striking a delicate balance between honoring tradition and embracing modernity. Overcoming challenges involved reconciling cultural aspects, and ensuring historical accuracy while meeting contemporary design standards.
The project started in Riparbella in June 2023 and was completed in Riparbella in September 2023.
Every aspect of Villa Albella's visual identity is meticulously crafted to enhance the sensory experience. From the intricate patterns adorning textiles to the evocative illustrations depicting the villa's rich history, each element is designed to engage touch, sight, and even smell. The logo, featuring two intertwined floral branches symbolising unity, is elegantly embossed on various surfaces, inviting tactile exploration. Print techniques such as textured paper, laser cutting further amplify the tactile dimension. Together, these design elements create a multi-sensory journey, enriching the experience of Villa Albella.
The objective was to create a visual identity that honor Tuscany's cultural heritage while reflecting the villa's history and new owners' vision. I used a mixed-methods approach, combining interviews, historical research, and visual and architectural explorations. The research enhanced the villa's appeal to tourists seeking authentic and memorable experiences. It also demonstrated the potential of design to bridge cultural divides and promote heritage preservation in global contexts.
The inspiration for this project stemmed from a profound admiration for Tuscany's cultural richness and a commitment to preserving it. Motivated by a desire to honor the villa's heritage while accommodating the vision of the new owners, for a place that is an asylum of culture, history, and unity. The design drew inspiration from extensive historical research, and a dedication to bridging centuries old tradition with intercultural contemporary dialogue.
