“Futuristic City” envisions a future city where futuristic architecture incorporates elements of art deco, art nouveau and Roman styles, creating a harmonious fusion of classic aesthetics and innovation.
concept art, illustration, architecture
The illustration is done digitally. I first used Blender, a 3d modeling software, to create base models, lighting and rendering to serve as a base for digital painting. I used Photoshop to paint digitally on top to create the final painting.
To imagine and illustrate a future city, I need to expand my knowledge of architectural design, environment design, and city planning. I created a style guide that combines contemporary design with classic aesthetics, and I applied my original unique style to the architecture. The balance between the two styles is the most challenging and the highlight of this project.
This project was completed from 2020 to 2021 in the US.
Concept Art. This environment concept art shows the possibility of innovative architecture that combined with classic aesthetics.
A study on historical architecture and modern architecture. Mainly focus on art deco, art nouveau, and Roman architecture. To create this unique style, I referenced the Roman rounded arches, pillars, and vaulting. Then I combined them with the Art Deco speed lines as well as the decorative elements from art nouveau.
I am fascinated by how architecture can revive and combine previous styles. I believe that a futuristic city should not only consist of white and clean buildings commonly seen in sci-fi movies. Instead, it can embody a more human-centric approach, showcasing the rich history of architectural design. Thus I want to add classic aesthetic elements and humane touch to this series of digital illustrations, aiming to create a captivating visual experience.
