Concert for B'IN LIVE
The band Deca Joins, in their first large scale ticketed concert, used water as the central theme, symbolizing the essence of the band's spirit. This concept was woven throughout the entire performance, with over 70% of their older songs being newly arranged. The concert resembled a grand art installation, seamlessly blending their poetic and aesthetically rich songs into a cohesive experience. The result was like bringing a poetic and picturesque painting to life on stage, creating an artistic feast that redefined the audience's visual and auditory senses.

In response to the theme of this concert, "Heaven & Dirt", the stage design transformed "Round Sky and Square Earth" into a physical symbol, using a huge circular lighting structure which spans over the heads of the audience to form the main space on the top, and moving rectangular LED screens to depict the ground to achieve the effect that the artists can be visually covered by the video. The focus is on how to give the audience an impressive yet simple and powerful visual experience.

The LED was chosen to have a slit style, which gives a see-through effect. This feature was utilized in the opening, where the visual overlap between the front & back of the screen wrapped around the band, making their silhouettes invisible behind the screen, and arousing the audience's curiosity. The circle truss on the top is equipped with TB1230 and can move up & down. By utilizing different heights and angles, the light structure becomes an art installation with variations and appreciation.
deca joins’ music can be categorized in today's market as non-mainstream, artistic and poetic. Therefore, the aesthetic design and presentation of this concert is different from a typical one. For example, the band preferred to use the light of the overall environment to convey the mood of the music at the moment rather than using follow light on their face. So we let the music lead the way, and matching it with the videos and lighting to present a poetic negative space.
The concert was held on February 23 & 24 2024 in Taipei.
We hope that every audience will have something to take away from the show, whether it's the visual experience or the music itself. Because deca joins' music is characterized by unimaginable arranging details, and in order to allow the audience to concentrate more on immersing themselves in a pure musical experience, we put the music first when integrating all the designs, trying to eliminate the essentials, making everything more comprehensible and touch the audience’s heart directly.
Water inspired Deca Joins' lyrics. Therefore, we used the songs Bathroom, Fog, Heavy Rain and Waves as the skeleton of the concert. The show starts with a strong ensemble sound, aiming to give the audience an uplifting impact. At the same time, the huge LED across the stage was raised to show the band up. The circular lighting structure comes down in an attempt to change the spatial sense of the stage from spacious to cohesive at the song "Nighttime Monologues". At the end, song "B1" combines the imaginations of the band members with a surreal visual style, jumping into another level of visual expression.
The concert theme "Heaven & Dirt" is describing how we would spend our time when we have different encounters on the journey of life. The "Round Sky and Square Earth" is the first human imagination of the world. Although it was eventually proved to be a fallacy, it is a testimony to mankind's repeated experiments and explorations, and their desire to validate their own worldview. This spirit echoes the perspective of life in the songs, and is the basis for the design concept of the concert.
