Unique Properties

The posters mainly use the method of positive and negative shapes in the graphic design, combine the side face of person with the edge of masks, it suggests a symbiotic relationship between breathing and masks. The main figure is combined with graphic elements such as people, sky, city, heart and heartbeat, from three levels of symbiosis, the sky, with one heart, it causes people to think about relationship among prevention, confidence, community, unity.

Production Technology

The works used hand-drawn graphics, and were designed and produced by Adobe Photoshop software.

Design Challenge

How to use graphics, a borderless language, to enhance people's confidence and courage, and use scientific methods against the virus. Masks, face, buildings, city, heart, heartbeat and so on, the combination of the shapes makes people think about the community for mankind and the importance of trust and unity from the perspective of history and society.

Project Duration

The project finished in February 2020 in China, and has been exhibited in three exhibitions of public service advertising contest, from February 2020 to today.

Operation Flow

This series of posters can be expanded in different Spaces. On two-dimensional, they can extend to a book or a logo by adding content, such as pictures and information that people united in their fight against viruses. In three dimensions, through the use of materials, they can be transformed into interactive three-dimensional posters or installation art. In realm of time, they can be designed as motion graphic.

Research

Research Objectives: Called on people to protect themselves scientifically, have conviction in winning the battle against COVID-19, and make continuous efforts in fighting the epidemic. Methodology: Use positive and negative shapes and combination of gradient in graphic design.

Inspiration

The epidemic of COVID 19 inspired me to design a series of posters, the inspiration comes from masks and faces, Masks are the most effective and convenient way to prevent the spread of the virus. Now, the world has become such a indivisible community for mankind. We breathe together and share the same fate. We are confident that with the concerted efforts of the global community, fight against COVID 19, publicize epidemic prevention knowledge, and advocate the harmonious symbiosis between man and man.

Project Overview

Breath Posters has been a Bronze winner in the Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design award category in the year 2019 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
