The whole package is formed by irregular multi-surface scale, so that the weakest light can also be reflected into highlights. Unique Properties

Carslan aim for a groundbreaking lipstick. “Sand of Time” is the major inspiration of the design, conveying the sense that all cosmetic products should basically stop time flowing away and thus help women to keep their beauty and grace at any age. Use deconstructionism to express the idea that all women with different personalities and values should be respected. So the irregular multifaceted scales are shaped, which can reflect even a weakest beam of light into a highlight to the product.

Production Technology

We adopt them to achieve more effective communication with young consumers. With this new package, Carslan makes its way to rejuvenate the brand.And because we don't want to give up the dreamy feeling refracted by the solid material, we specifically researched a two-time injection molding method. It solves the problem of material shrinkage and surface unevenness due to thickness while retaining light refraction.

Design Challenge

Carslan, a fashionable cosmetics brand born in 2001, always keeps a keen sense of the international youth trend culture. Although they have become leading cosmetics experts with excellent quality and global production and R&D, consumers' memories of Carslan lipstick are almost vague. How to stand out in the homogenized cosmetics industry has become the subject of this product packaging upgrade research.

Project Duration

The project lasts 2 months, designed in Shenzhen and produced in Beijing.

Operation Flow

Hourglass-like body covered by highly transparent PETG, which turns the product into an hourglass frozen by ice cube, conveying the sense that all cosmetic products should basically stop time flowing away and thus help women to keep their beauty and grace at any age.

Carslan is a top-notch cosmetic brand in China so they aim for a groundbreaking lipstick.

Inspiration

The inspiration comes from the function of cosmetics, which is to help people to remain young and forget about age. Ice to freeze the hourglass visualizes the aim of lipstick, to stop time pass and secure beauty.
