This entails creating a responsive design that transitions effortlessly between various screen sizes, resolutions, and input methods while maintaining consistency and usability. The aim is to broaden the game's audience and deliver an optimal gaming experience on any device.

Production Technology

Opurgimize utilizes cutting-edge game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine, alongside responsive frameworks like Bootstrap or React Native for UI/UX design. Cloud-based services enable seamless data synchronization and multiplayer functionality. Continuous iteration and testing refine performance for an immersive cross-platform gaming experience.

Design Challenge

The toughest part was finding a way to make gamers happy while dealing with the limits of our technology. We had to figure out how to include cool gaming features without making the phone too big or draining its battery too fast. Inside our team, we looked at how phones were designed in the past to help us decide. Outside, we had to keep up with new tech and follow the rules about privacy and data.

Project Duration

The project started in September 2022 in the Bay Area and finished in March 2024 in Martinez.

Operation Flow

Operation/Flow/Interaction: Players navigate Opurgimize's menu to access game modes. They customize characters and loadouts. During gameplay, they interact with the environment, NPCs, and other players using standard controls. The flow seamlessly transitions between exploration, combat, and story-driven events for an immersive experience across platforms.

Research

Type of Research: Design Research Research Objectives: To understand user preferences in smartphone design for gaming. Methodology: Conducted surveys, interviews, and gaming sessions to gather data. Data Collection and Research Tools Used: Utilized online survey platforms, interview guides, and gaming consoles. Participants or Experiments: Recruited smartphone users and gamers from diverse demographics. Results: Identified preferences for larger screens, higher resolution, and enhanced processing power for optimal gaming experience. Insights and Impacts: Insights influenced smartphone design to prioritize gaming features, resulting in improved user satisfaction and engagement. Effect of the Research in Real-Life Phenomena: Enhanced gaming features in smartphones contribute to increased enjoyment and immersion for users, impacting both individual gaming experiences and the gaming industry as a whole.

Inspiration

I am inspired by classic science fiction literature, movies, and games that spark my imagination and guide me in creating my science fiction world. Science fiction is often a vehicle for exploring complex social, political, and ethical issues. My games are inspired by the desire to explore and comment on contemporary issues through a futuristic lens. I was also inspired by Mr. Michael Wersheim Beresin, a talented 3D artist, and I used his 3D characters as robots for my projects.

Project Overview

Opurgimize Video Game UI has been a Iron winner in the Interface, Interaction and User Experience Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Iron A' Design Award is awarded to good designs that meet the rigorous professional and industrial standards set by the A' Design Awards. This recognition is reserved for works that demonstrate a solid understanding of design principles and show creativity within their execution.
