In the summer of 2018, Akimbo Cafe has a partnership with E.T. Brewery to launch two craft coffee beers. They are namely as Colombian milk porter and Yirgacheffe Snowfield Berlin sour wheat. This packaging design combines two brands' characteristics. The design uses a lively illustration and a hand-painted font on the common aluminum cans is to create a refreshing effect.

The material of the packaging is an aluminum can.
We have spent a lot of time to design the illustration and font style. Besides, we have to maintain the main visual style of the product. We also need to tell clearly to the consumer that this design is for an alcoholic beverage. The design is not to use cartoon image style to disguised as a soft drink.
The project started in September 2018 and finished in October 2018 Shenzhen.
Although the launch date of the co-branded beverages is approach ending of the summer. However Shenzhen is still under high temperature. We would like to design a refreshing effect on the packaging. The design tries to continue the relaxed experience effect as the moment as drinking ice beer in summer. The story of the illustration design is about the icon of Akimbo, Leonardo da Vinci and E.T.Brewery’s alien who went to the beach to surf and play.
The background of the project is about Akimbo's cafe expects to launch a special coffee craft beer with E.T.Brewery in the summer. The product focus on the young consumer. After confirming the way of cooperation on both sides, we found that there is no packaging design of coffee or beer on the market uses a hand illustration drawing. That is a surprise for designing Akimbo Coffee Beer. The hand drawing illustration is an advantage style for Akimbo Coffee Beer. The unique hand drawing illustration style also attracts lots of fans for Akimbo Coffee Beer. We decided to develop a relaxed and lively effect on the design except for the necessary information. As we expected, and once the product launched, it immediately becomes popular in the young generation in Shanghai and Shenzhen.
The idea of the project is inspired by a summer trip to the seaside. In addition, a lot of previous liquor labels brought out a lot of design inspiration for this project. The design combines a relaxed and lively illustration style with the retro font design. The result of the packaging design seems retro and fashionable.
