2022 is the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese lunar calendar. Most of the New Year's gifts are showing Chinese traditions, but the brand wants a high-end dim sum gift box that combines traditional Chinese culture and is young and fashionable. The designer used the similar pronunciation of "tiger" and "blessing" in Chinese to express "wu hu lin men" (Chinese idiom, New Year's blessing) with five tigers; boldly used orange and green to contrast colors to make the whole package more fashionable.

Both the gift box and the inner box are printed on ordinary cardboard, and the three-dimensional embossing effect is made to highlight the realistic tiger graphic. It is worth mentioning that the designer deliberately designed the box to be a thin growing strip, and embedded the lid into the bottom box. Inside, just like a framed painting, the box can be used as a decorative painting, and the packaging has the opportunity for secondary use to reduce waste.
The biggest challenge of this packaging is: not only let the older people feel the traditional atmosphere, but also let the young people feel fashionable, how to integrate traditional Chinese culture and fashion is the most important problem to be solved.
The project is designed in November 2021 and will be sold in Wuhan, China in December 2021
In the Chinese Year of the Tiger, the idiom "five blessings come to the door" composed of tiger patterns and five tigers gives the most direct double New Year's blessing. At the same time, the tiger paintings prepared for people in the box can be used for coloring, which can create emotional interaction between people and make the New Year atmosphere more intense.
After confirming the idea of using five tigers to express New Year's greetings, the designer consulted a lot of materials and found five tigers representing five different meanings from different regions of China, such as representing peace, good luck, guardianship, and happiness. , fortune. And re-drawing and coloring, not only retains the traditional form, but also fashion.
The most direct way to create a gift box for the Year of the Tiger is to use tiger graphics. The designer used five tigers to express "wu hu lin men" (Chinese idiom, often used for New Year wishes), using the similar pronunciation of "tiger" and "blessing" in Chinese. Idioms and graphics form a double New Year's greeting. At the same time, there is a tiger picture in the box that people can color together to enhance the emotional interaction between people.
