The kite museum mooncake gift box is different from the general souvenirs. The work consists of small kite crafts, carved paper lamps and mooncake cakes, which constitute a composite gift box with three experiences, three levels and three combinations. The design mobilizes visual, tactile, taste and other different sensory echoes of traditional cultural memory, to meet the different needs of consumers in the appreciation of commemoration, participation in production, taste and appreciation.
Packaging, tradition, kites, layers, crafts
The packaging is composed of a hard cardboard external box and is printed in color. The inner small box is composed of 300 grams of special paper to make the upper printed kite pattern. Paper carved lamps are carved by traditional color cardboard hollow, and are supported by wooden frames. The internal manual material package is composed of bamboo, wire and paper, which can be used repeatedly. The packaging process is simple and easy to mass production.
This design breaks through common design thinking around the single dimension graphic creativity, and adopts the three-dimensional layered way to innovate. Whether the form of packaging, gift box content, material selection, or the use of visual elements, it is difficult to innovate and transform the unique cultural imprint and design semantic expression is the biggest. The team tried to restructure and reconstruct the content and form in the design, and finally realized the activation of traditional kite culture through the gift box souvenir.
The project was commenced in Chongqing in July, 2021, completed in Chongqing in October, 2021, and exhibited in Chongqing in December, 2021.
The packaging is Rigid Box with separated lid, which is easy to operate and convenient to take out. The interior uses DIY kite material package, which is convenient for consumers to experience the craft process of making kites by themselves and interact with consumers. The materials can be used repeatedly and are green.
Weifang kite in China has a long history of culture. The kite elements are used to run through the whole souvenir gift box design, breaking through the single element of the museum cultural’ s creative souvenir mode, integrating moon cake cakes, miniature kite decoration for furnishing articles and carved paper lamps into one, with the commercial and artistic nature of cultural experience, showing the design aesthetic pursuit of both modern novelty and traditional oriental flavor, making the museum cultural consumption taste more elegant.
Weifang kite is a traditional Chinese handicraft treasure with long history and great influence. This design services for the mooncake gift box of kite museum. The design idea comes from Weifang kite and adopt a three-tier structure. The main tone of color include ' Shi Yang Jin ', ' Zhu Qing ' and ' Iris Blue '. With elements like butterfly kites, goldfish kites and goldbufo kites, it highlights the distinctive cultural symbols of Weifang, It is both practical and aesthetic.
