The Beltur Go packaging is designed for Beltur, a company that provides gastronomy services in Istanbul. Since the food box can be placed on the drink cup, both food and drink can be held with one hand, the design enables to consume food and drink while on the move. Additionally, the box has small folded areas that can be opened to put sauces inside. Moreover, the package is made of paper rather than plastic in order to reduce plastic waste.

Unique Properties

The package enables you to hold your food and drink together with one hand. The food box can be placed on the drink cup since the straw can go through the box. Additionally, the box has small folded areas that can be opened to put sauces inside. The food box can also be used by itself with a fork added on top. We also designed a pack which can be used as a tray to hold coffee, water and cookies. Compared to classical packaging, this design makes it easier to consume while on the move or sitting on a bench.

Production Technology

All packaging was produced using 350 grams of American Bristol paper using offset printing.

Design Challenge

For convenience in storage and transportation, all designs had to arrive at the point of sale packed flatly. The challenge was to design in a way to make sure it is not difficult for the seller to open and use those flat packages.

Project Duration

The project took place between June 2020 and August 2020 in Istanbul.

Operation Flow

Having a quick meal in urban green areas is now remarkably easy with Beltur Go. With the help of the design, food and beverages are held with one hand, and the other hand is left idle for consumption. The section where the food is placed provides hygiene and convenience compared to the past because it can be closed or opened more properly when desired. Furthermore, a more effective branding area was implemented in all packages. Moreover, unlike the regular plastic packs, we used paper as the material in this design instead of plastic to reduce plastic waste.

Research

Living in a big city is exhausting, and everybody wants a break in the urban areas. We observed that people spend time in these parks where our client Beltur serves food and drinks. However, the parks lack suitable areas to sit and eat. Our design brings a solution to this issue. Also, Istanbul is a crowded city where everyone has little time to have a break during work time. Therefore, we designed this package accordingly, enabling consumers to have a meal while in a rush. We also searched for the best material to use for the packaging. We used paper -that will be recycled easily- instead of plastic to reduce plastic waste.

Inspiration

Many people visit parks or gardens to relax. However, food and beverage consumption might turn into a problem in these areas. For our client Beltur, a company that provides food and beverages inside the large parks in Istanbul, we have created a design that will provide a solution when there are no tables and chairs to enjoy a meal. Our primary inspiration was to make everyday life better and more enjoyable. Thanks to the new packaging design, it is a lot easier to handle and consume meals.
