Coffee Packaging for Rikchari Packaging by Planetario
Rikchari is a peruvian socially concerned coffee brand that stands for sustainability. The brand’s name means “wake up” in Quechua, so the design team worked with the letter C to represent a silhouette that resembles a coffee bean and an eye. The packaging followed the idea of the logo design, which has a typographic construction that resembles the geometric shapes made in the Inca empire of Peru, known as Tocapu. The project seeks to tell the world that Peru has one of the best areas for growing coffee.

Rikchari is a socially responsible coffee brand that stands for sustainability, with a strong smell, precise acidity and a delicious flavor. It was created in Chirinos, in the province of San Ignacio, in the north of Peru, growing at 1700 meters above sea level, the perfect height for Arabica coffee. The new branding and packaging reflect their values: conscience, quality, humanity and commitment. They wanted to maintained the quality and essence of the coffee when it reaches the final consumer.

This design was done digitally with Adobe programs. Physical proofing was also done to check details.
As a new product, the previous packaging did not fully represent its purpose as a brand, which caused it to communicate a generic aspect that failed to stand out from its competition in the sector. Rikchari is a brand with purpose, created by two women who care about making the highest quality coffee for their customers, seeking to give value to coffee from Peru and Cajamarca around the country, as well as leaving Peru up high. It is intended that the brand competes as an organic product full of passion, dedication and with a social purpose, so it was necessary to present this in the packaging design.
The project began at the end of 2019 in Lima, Peru and was completed in June 2020. The printing of the product began in September 2020.
The project seeks to tell the world that Peru has one of the best areas for growing coffee. Rikchari grows on a farm in Cajamarca, which began producing coffee more than 50 years ago, following in the footsteps of an export coffee tradition. The brand seeks to provide a product that can raise the established standards, to provide work and generate income for several families in the community and to solve different social projects in the town. All this process is strongly related to the brand's values: conscience, humanity, commitment and quality.
The brand name, Rikchari, means WAKE UP in Quechua, so we worked with the letter C to represent a silhouette that resembles a coffee bean and an eye. The packaging followed the idea of the logo design, which has a typographic construction that resembles the geometric shapes made in the Inca empire of Peru, known as Tocapu. This design reflects a quality product, made with passion and at the same time a product that reflects its human, social and organic side.
