Rebranding and packaging design for Al Mocha Port, Saudi Arabia, one of the major players in importing and roasting specialty coffee and accessories in the region. A wide range of varieties from producing plantations all over the world is carefully imported for making the best blends for coffee connoisseurs. The objective was to create a series of packaging that reflects their deeply rooted expertise and uniqueness. The front side is clean with 3 different plain colors, aiming to attract customer attention. The coffee illustration on the sides emphasizes the attentive attitude of the manufacturer to the product selection. Each one of the pouches is bright and perceptible and does not require extra effort from the buyer while making a choice purchase.

The challenge was to create a series of packaging that reflects their deeply rooted specialty coffee selection of the best beans from around the world and to attract new customers, in a highly competitive market. The packaging had to be clean, understandable, distinguished, and not overloaded with information, bridging the past and the present. The second challenge was to create an emotional bond with the target audience.
The project started in September 2020 in Dammam, Saudi Arabia and finished in January 2021 in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.
In addition, the redesigned series emphasizes the brand's unique properties: the colors reflect the origin and taste notes of the product. The redesigned logo is inspired by the architecture of this time period. The white label with highlighted information of origin, taste notes, elevation, and the process's methods helps the consumer to make a purchasing decision quicker. A flexible labeling system allows the brand to use the same pouch with different coffee labels as their offerings change throughout the year.
The port of Al Mokha is considered one of the oldest ports in the Arabian Peninsula. It was the main marketplace for coffee between the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries. Mocha and Mocachino take the name from this port. It reached its peak in the seventeenth century.
The inspiration came from the story behind the brand name and the coffee provenance. Al Mocha port, Yemen is the oldest marketplace in the world, for Arabian coffee. The port is a symbol of intangible heritage and perpetual tradition and reminds us that history is a continuum.
