The packaging emphasizes extending the product life cycle to achieve environmental sustainability. The multiple colors of the core replacement module are designed to harmonize the packaging with the user’s emotions and aesthetic experiences, evoking a sense of ease and effortlessly accommodating to the living spaces of different users.
Production Technology
Material: outer cap/outer bottle: acrylic, inner cap/inner bottle/replacement core cap: PP (polypropylene), pump block: ABS Production process: injection molding The highly transparent part of the bottle is made of acrylic material and the replacement core packaging is made of recyclable and environment-friendly polypropylene (PP); Thus subsequent purchase of the replacement core can reduce the use of acrylic to achieve sustainability.
Design Challenge
The challenge was to keep our ergonomic design in mind and to maintain the overall product structure stability at the same time. We worked closely with a top-tier manufacturer in the industry and finally adopted the round shape after rounds of experiments. The eventual best grip experience was revised and prototyped multiple times to make sure not only is it solid and durable but also can be manufactured flawlessly.
Project Duration
The project took place in December 2021 and the products will be released on market in August 2022.
Operation Flow
The body part of the serum bottle is meticulously designed with an ergonomic style in mind and provides a much more comfortable grip. This design of the body part allows the user to conveniently replace the inner refill module with a shorter amount of time and allows users to use it daily at ease.
Research
The product form vividly showcases the brand keywords: exploring, reaching, unrestrained, and symbiosis with a futuristic and technological brand image. The translucent packaging design with a see-through structure helps to understand our sustainable refillable system more intuitively as well as reflects our triple-transparent standard of skincare products development. Furthermore, the minimalist style with soy-based ink printing also reduces hazardous chemicals released to the environment.
Inspiration
The idea came from the cosmic celestial bodies and conveys the inspiration and infinite possibilities brought by the release of true nature. The translucent ring shape simulates the orbit of a planet and the link between space and time, aiming to convey the brand keywords of "exploring, reaching, unrestrained, and symbiosis". The transparent shell follows the brand’s principle of transparent product development, while the colorful interior symbolizes the philosophy of inward-oriented self-care.
Project Overview
TaaSlab Anti-Aging and Soothing Skincare Packaging has been a Bronze winner in the Packaging Design award category in the year 2021 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
