Wine Packaging for Gentlebrand
Giossa is a premium glass bottle for Prosecco sparkling wine. With this design, Gentlebrand pays homage to its territory and the Valdobbiadene hills, part of Unesco. The inspiration comes directly from the vineyard, clearly represented on the bottle with engravings of leaves, branches and grapes that make the bottle unique. Every detail is carefully thought to ensure feasibility from an industrial and technical point of view, without compromising the aesthetics. Giossa name originates from the Venetian dialect and means drop, recalling dew-making grapes shining in the morning sun.

Giossa is a premium glass bottle for Prosecco sparkling wine. A packaging concept developed around the local territory: the bottle seems wrapped by vine branches like if it’s coming out from the vineyard, representing the quality and origin of Prosecco. The strong bond with the territory and nature is reinforced by the label and its wood-like effect resulting from a careful choice of papers, that don’t get wet thus keeping the bottle premium look and feel.

The model has been made following the standard technical design process, starting from an initial handmade sketch till the modelling with a 3D CAD. The chosen material is glass and the production technology is the standard one for bottle glass manufacturing: a melted glass drop is blown in a mold getting the final container with the related decorations. The label is made of different papers (one with a wood effect) and is printed with offset technology to guarantee the best finishing quality.
The biggest challenge of this design was the engineering of the bottle 3D model. Graphic elements recalling the vineyards with very little decorations like leaves, branches, birds, grapes, were applied to the container ensuring a tridimensionality effect.
The project started middle of 2021 in Gentlebrand company based in San Vendemiano and was finalized in order to be exposed at the Drinktec tradeshow in Munich in September 2022, where technical experts in the beverage industry from all over the world could appreciate the aesthetical and technical features of Giossa bottle design.
Giossa design incorporates different process technologies like the production of a glass bottle with complex decorations, a label made of high-quality premium papers and eye-catching graphics. It’s made with modern production techniques to obtain a unique design linked to the territory and heritage of the wine.
Gentlebrand started with the study of the Prosecco wine tradition and bond with the territory, with the objective to create a packaging able to communicate its heritage and story. The research involved the analysis of wine magazines and interviews of wine experts and wineries. All the collected data were used by the designers to create the storytelling behind the concept. Moreover, the design meets the technical requirements of the local wine producers.

Every detail is carefully thought to ensure the feasibility from an industrial and technical point of view, without compromising the aesthetics.
