Production Technology
Meditation of the Lotus's packaging,inspired by Zen culture, combining traditional Chinese elements with modern environmentally friendly materials. It uses eco-friendly special paper with embossed hot stamping using pearlized electrochemical aluminum technology. It contrasts natural fibers with metallic calligraphy, creating a harmonious blend. The 100% recyclable and biodegradable corrugated paper complements the elegant white porcelain containers, appealing to both eco-conscious consumers and enthusiasts of Chinese culture.
Design Challenge
Throughout the project development and implementation, we faced several challenges. Firstly, the task of integrating traditional Chinese aesthetics with environmental conservation concepts posed a creative challenge, requiring us to find a suitable balance. Secondly, selecting appropriate eco-friendly materials was a crucial consideration that necessitated in-depth research and testing. Technical limitations during the design process, particularly in the production of packaging containers and printing patterns, also presented challenges. Additionally, we needed to balance cultural heritage with commercial requirements, continuously adjusting and optimizing design solutions. Lastly, launching new aromatic products required thorough market research and analysis to ensure they meet consumer needs and gain market acceptance. Through the team's efforts and innovation, we successfully overcame these challenges, achieving our design goals, and contributing to the development of eco-friendly products.
Project Duration
The project started in April 2023 in Chongqing China till today, and was exhibited in November 2023.
Operation Flow
The main feature of Meditation of the Lotus's packaging design is its global first use of natural pebbles from the Jialing River in Chongqing, China, as a fragrance carrier. This innovative approach makes the fragrance more natural, long-lasting, eco-friendly, and easy to use, meeting the consumers' demand for sustainability and efficiency while maintaining low carbon and environmental protection.
Research
Our project aims to explore how to integrate traditional Chinese aesthetics with environmental conservation concepts into the packaging design of aromatic products. Through market research, design thinking, and the application of environmental technologies, we are committed to creating aromatic products that carry cultural significance and low-carbon environmental characteristics, catering to the aesthetic needs of modern consumers while guiding their attention towards environmental protection. We employed qualitative and quantitative research methods, including market surveys, focus group discussions, and prototype design. Additionally, we utilized Blender software for design simulation and rendering. Participants in the research included designers, environmental experts, consumers, and cultural scholars, all of whom contributed to the design process, discussions, and product testing. Ultimately, we successfully designed packaging for aromatic products inspired by traditional Chinese aesthetics and utilizing eco-friendly materials, combining traditional calligraphic patterns with natural materials to create a unique aesthetic effect. Through this research, we delved into the relationship between cultural heritage and environmental protection, proposing innovative design solutions that will impact consumer perceptions of eco-friendly products and encourage them to support low-carbon environmental lifestyles.
Inspiration
Our goal is to merge a diffuser package with Chinese cultural significance and low carbon environmental protection. By combining traditional Chinese aesthetics with the use of eco-friendly materials, this unique aromatherapy product was created. The packaging design uses traditional Chinese calligraphy as the main design pattern, with elegant and simple colors, combining traditional Chinese aesthetics with ecological consciousness, highlighting the modern aesthetic of Chinese culture.
