Brand Identity for C'est la vie Boutique
This project is to design a visual system for a fashion boutique in Nanjing, China. The Nanjing sycamore tree is an iconic part of the city's landscape. Based on the concept of local design, this typical element was transformed into a dynamic sculpture installation, brand visual elements, and other forms. On this basis, the designers used 3D images as the graphic elements of the brand design, and the logo part was designed in a mix-up style to emphasize the brand's characteristics. The design scheme is from planar to spatial and static to dynamic, reflecting the localized design thinking.

This project is to design a visual system and art installations for a local fashion buyer's store in Nanjing, China. The main logo design is a "mix-up" design style with the store's name "C'est La vie" because the store is a collection of Chinese and Western fashion brands with various product categories and styles. The visual system consists of local elements as supporting graphics, such as the Nanjing Sycamore Tree and the Three-Ball Suzuki Tree. The visual presentation comprises 2D or 3D forms suitable for branding series mediums applications.
Branding
The realization of the design consists of a variety of materials and techniques.
The core of the design challenge is how to combine Nanjing's traditional culture with modern fashion elements to create a brand image that is both regionally distinctive and fashionable. This requires designers to delve into Nanjing's history, culture, art, and contemporary lifestyle, draw inspiration from them, and incorporate these elements into the brand design innovatively. Firstly, designers need to consider how to convey Nanjing's unique charm through visual elements. Secondly, brand storytelling is also an essential part of the design. Finally, sustainable development is an aspect of modern brand design that cannot be ignored. In summary, the Nanjing Sycamore Tree has become an iconic city landscape due to its historical origins. Continuing the concept of local design, this typical element is transformed into different forms of presentation, such as dynamic sculpture installations and visual elements of the brand to respond to these design challenges.
The duration of the project is from June to September 2022, and the project location is in Nanjing.
The store opened in September 2022. Located in Nanjing, China.
C'est la vie Boutique, originating from Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, is a local boutique that blends tradition and modernity, oriental aesthetics, and international fashion. The designers dig deep into Nanjing's rich history and culture, combining its unique regional characteristics with modern fashion elements, and are committed to creating a unique fashion brand that provides a distinctive shopping experience for consumers who pursue individuality and taste.
Based on the concept of local design, the typical element of the Nanjing Sycamore Tree(Firmiana Simplex)was adopted as the key point, and firstly designed the dynamic sculpture art installation "Sycamore Forest," which rotates in a counterclockwise direction, and the inverted mirror of the tree maps the change of Nanjing city. On this basis, a three-dimensional image was used as the graphic element of the brand design, and the logo was designed in a mix-up style to emphasize the brand's characteristics. The design is from planar to spatial, static to dynamic, reflecting the localized multi-dimensional design thinking.
