The design integrates sustainable materials such as textured paper, carefully selected to enrich both the tactile and visual experience. A minimalist approach ensures that the use of ink and glue is minimized, while the combination of traditional aesthetics with modern techniques creates a premium and eco-friendly product. Advanced printing and embossing techniques were employed to highlight the intricate details and create the play of light and shadow.
The main challenge was to blend traditional Chinese aesthetics with modern design principles while maintaining sustainability. The project required balancing intricate cultural symbols with a minimalist approach, ensuring that the packaging was both visually compelling and eco-friendly. Overcoming the constraints of using sustainable materials without sacrificing luxury or tactile quality posed a significant creative and technical challenge.
The project started in April 2024 in Shanghai and finished in January 2025 in Shanghai.
The packaging offers a seamless user experience with a smooth and intuitive opening mechanism, reflecting the brand’s high standards of design. The interplay of light and shadow is activated through the natural movements of the consumer, enhancing the sensory appeal and drawing attention to the fragrance’s essence. The design ensures that each interaction feels sophisticated and harmonious, enhancing the overall product experience.
The research aimed to explore how traditional Chinese design elements could be integrated into modern luxury packaging while emphasizing sustainability. The methodology involved examining historical Chinese aesthetics, current design trends, and consumer preferences for eco-friendly packaging. Data was collected through market research, materials testing, and expert interviews. The findings highlight the importance of creating packaging that not only reflects cultural heritage but also aligns with modern consumers' values of sustainability and luxury.
The design draws inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of Chinese architecture, particularly the intricate patterns of window lattices. This symbolic element captures the idea of natural harmony and the flow of fragrance. The use of sustainable materials reflects a modern desire to balance elegance with eco-consciousness, resulting in a packaging solution that aligns with the brand’s values of luxury, sustainability, and cultural depth.
Fenvee Essence Fragrance Packaging has been a Iron winner in the Packaging Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
