With the new packaging, the design team wishes to strengthen brand recognition, as well as emphasize the technological edge associated with Xiaomi products. To ensure that the Xiaomi style remains uniform across products from a wide variety of categories and dimensions, designers have designated space on the packaging to communicate branding identity, and established a clear structure to display key product information, so that it can become a visual memory and stand apart from its competitors. Since orange is the major color palette in the Xiaomi brand, we opt for a contrasting orange-black color scheme to enhance the visual impact.

With the new packaging design, the key product specifications, slogan, selling points are well communicated to the consumer, while the vibrant color scheme powerfully conveys the technology, joy, and passion aspects advocated by Xiaomi.
The project stared in June 2018 in Beijing China, finished in July 2018 in Beijing China
Xiaomi had a product line for Indian Market. However, the feedback from the sales department was negative. Therefore, two teams from China and India worked together to explore a new look. After deeply local market research, the design team found the problems and built a new visual system for the packaging.
Compared with the packaging of other brands in the Indian market, the branding on existing packaging line is not clear, and brand recognition is low. And the selling points and key features are not apparent. Furthermore, the product portfolio lacks visual impact and communication between product and consumer. Therefore, customers feel indifferent towards the packaging. The last and most important, packaging lacks visual memory.
Xiaomi had a product line for the Indian market. However, the sales department gave negative feedback for the visual design of the packaging. After local market research, two teams from China and India worked together and built a new visual system for the packaging. New look gives a fresh visual for the whole product line.
