Packaging for Vittorakis & Co Olive Oil Mill
This is a custom-designed olive oil clay bottle. The idea behind it is to be very elegant and to be reused by users. Clay material was selected in order to suggest the origin of this blessed product, the Cretan soil. The land that gives the special taste and characteristics of this product. This packaging can come in two options. One with only the logo in front and the side icons only and accompanied by a small etiquette strapped with a string on the neck of the bottle, thus making it a decorative ornament. Or with full details as is in the photos.

Production Technology
The brand has two distinctive elements given by its own name. TERRA - earth and OLIVA - olive which translates to Land of Olive. The brand was approached differently with simple modern lines that give memorable shapes.
Design Challenge
The main challenge was the high cost of this custom-made bottle and finding a Greek manufacturer for this.
Project Duration
The project started in April 2014 and took about 3 weeks for the design to be completed. This was done in Chania, Crete, Greece.
Operation Flow
The bottle is to be re-used as an elegant piece of kitchen utensil. The use is straightforward. There is a special notch on the top of the bottle in order to make olive oil flow easily without making a mess.
Research
The research started with visual elements of Cycladic art, modern and ancient. After exploring many shapes of bottles this was the optimal design. The design process also contained some other design elements such as icons that embrace the brand.
Inspiration
The inspiration came from Cycladic art, which has minimal lines. Thus the bottle was designed in such a way to depict this minimalism.

Terra Oliva Packaging has been a Bronze winner in the Packaging Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
