Arman Auzhanov, designer from Kazakhstan, created a complete vodka project for premium sector. He used images of Moon and Space as a clear semantic code based on modern technology materials. The positioning is based by two USP: emotional (vodka is produced in accordance with the phases of the Moon) and rational (it is cleaned using Moonstone filtration). The personal shaped bottle has debossing as lunar craters. For the label he used material with microcrystals making the dynamic image of the starry sky, and Lens Fresnel for the image of the Moon. Futuristic gift packaging completes the image.

Unique Properties
The name LUNA personifies the essence of premium positioning. The epithet "sky vodka" supports it. The positioning is supported by two USP: emotional - vodka is produced in accordance with the phases of the moon, and rational - it is cleaned with a moonstone. The unique bottle is debossed by the lunar craters shape, sparkling on the shelf. For the label we use a material making the starry sky image n dynamics, which supports the theme of space. Production Technology
We used various modern technologies that attract attention: deep lens Fresnel, which creates the effect of a voluminous iridescent moon, hot foil and Brail glossy varnish glowing in ultraviolet light. The label is made of special material with a velvet effect, with millions of glittering crystals. The personal mold for bottle, slightly tinted glass and transparent T-shape closure with black leg create a unique premium image. Futuristic gift packaging combines matte plastic and metal.
Design Challenge
Today’s vodka market is one of the most highly competitive. Almost all imaginable positions are already taken. So the most difficult task is to find a way to stand out on it.
Project Duration
The project started in December 2021 in Minsk and finished in December 2023 in Shymkent
Operation Flow
The label with the glittering deep lens Fresnel looking like the moon and millions of shimmering crystals draws attention of any customer passing by the shelf and creates a desire pick up the bottle to take a closer look.
Research
Before that, there was no product on the domestic market of Kazakhstan with the potential for the world export. "Luna" vodka is created to be attractive for the Kazakhstani mentality and at the same time to contain a message understandable to foreigners. People of generation Y (which is the most solvent both in Kazakhstan and in the world) are attracted by stories mystical and real.
Inspiration
For the base of brand, we have chosen the moon as an archetypal symbol, understandable to everyone and easy to remember. It is often used in literature and art, sounds in poetry and music. Many people believe in its influence on our psychological and even physiological condition. We decided to create the Image of the moon and the whole space using clear semantic code and innovative visual solutions based on contrast materials.
Project Overview
Luna Alpina Packaging has been a Silver winner in the Packaging Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill.
